My name is Bill Witinger. You’ve probably never heard of me, but I wrote the book on weight loss. Literally, I did. I actually started on my mission because I watched my wife Barbara struggle with her weight since the day we met. She tried every diet in the book, and over time became a yo-yo dieter. This is just one example of regimens that no one can actually stick to, which causes you to go on that well-known weight rollercoaster – first down, then up, then up, then up – wait a minute – well, you get the picture.

Group Two: Complication Overkill. Among other unrealistic dieting plans, those requiring combinations of certain foods, measuring, calorie counting, and purchasing pre-made meals that taste no better than the box they came in demand a high degree of will power and self-discipline to stick to them. These types of foods more or less have that “rabbit food” flavor, and pretty much rule out eating a normal meal in a restaurant or dining at a friend’s house. Again, totally NOT realistic.

Group Three: Playing With Fire and Other Dangerous Drugs. Seriously, we’d all like to pop a pill and then go chug down a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake and let the pill burn off all that fat with no side effects whatsoever. But seriously, if that pill that sucked up all the fat and spit it out existed we all know it would be owned by a huge drug company who would charge you through the nose for your prescription , or be readily available only to the RICH and FAMOUS. Stop the insanity! And then on top of these three groups, there are the empty promises of the diet bars and meal replacement shakes.
